Eli is a second grade student at Sibley Ocheyedan Elementary. At age 7 he was first diagnosed with brain cancer behind his eye. His cancer was in remission and has now returned. Eli is currently receiving chemo treatment and blood work weekly. Eli is the son of Chad and Connie Jansma and has two sisters.

An Ocheyedan man was arrested on several charges after a 911 call late on Sunday (5/19).

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office reports their deputies arrested 39-year-old Troy Edgar Harris of Ocheyedan and charged him with Third Offense Domestic Abuse, a Class “D” Felony, Obstruction of Emergency Communication, a Simple Misdemeanor and False Imprisonment, a Serious Misdemeanor. The arrest stemmed from a 911 call made in the 5900 mile of 180th Street southwest of Ocheyedan.

A Sibley man was arrested a couple of hours later.

Osceola County Sheriff’s Deputies report they arrested 29-year-old Cliff Edwin Garnett of Sibley after the communication center received a 911 call about Garnett breaking a window and entering a residence. Garnett was charged with Trespassing and Criminal Mischief, both Simple Misdemeanors.

A charge being filed is only an accusation, and those charged are innocent until proven guilty.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday May 22, 2013 at United Methodist Church in Sibley, IA with Rev. Shannon Pascual officiating. Burial will follow at Holman Township Cemetery in Sibley.

Family will receive guests at the church on Wednesday at the time of service.

Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley is in charge of services.

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office reports that on Wednesday (5/15), one of their deputies arrested 18-year-old Thressa Weishuhn of Sibley. She is accused of assaulting a 20-year-old woman at the Sibley Central Park. She was charged with assault.

Weishuhn was booked into the Osceola County Jail with a $300 bond.

There will not be garbage pickup on Monday, May 27.  Monday’s garbage route will be picked up on Tuesday, May 28, 2013.

People will have to come into sibley businesses to find the clues. Then during good ole summer time parade the winner will ride on our float.

So be looking for your first clue on Monday June 3^rd.  The medallion will be worth $500.
