Mildred F. Roos, age 94 of Sibley, died Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at the Country View Manor in Sibley, Iowa.

Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Monday, December 6, 2010 at the United Methodist Church in Sibley, with Reverend Charles Gilbert officiating. Burial will follow in the Holman Township Cemetery in Sibley.

Visitation will be Sunday, December 5th with the family present from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley.

Mildred Faye Roos was born in Matlock, Iowa on April 9, 1916 to Leonard and Anna (Hickman) Stanton. She graduated from high school in Little Rock, Iowa in 1934. She was united in marriage to Cyril Roos on June 27, 1936 in Rock Rapids, Iowa. Mildred worked in the Sibley drug stores for twenty-eight years. She was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church, where she served with the United Methodist Women. Mildred was blessed with many loving friends and relatives and enjoyed many cups of tea and homemade cookies with them. She also enjoyed crocheting, baking, going to Dinner Date, and taking care of her dog. She was a woman of deep faith who read her Bible daily.

Mildred is survived by her son, Ron (Mel) Roos of Sioux Falls, SD; two grandchildren, Pat (Melanie) Roos and Joe (Jodi) Roos; one step-granddaughter, Julia Gardner; three great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Cyril and two brothers, Lloyd and Donald Stanton.

Georgia M. Buchman, age 81 of Sibley, died Friday, November 26, 2010 at the Country View Manor in Sibley, Iowa.

Funeral service will be 10:30 AM Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at the United Methodist Church in Sibley, with Reverend Charles Gilbert officiating. Burial will follow in the Holman Township Cemetery in Sibley.

Visitation will be Monday, November 29th from 2:00 to 8:00 PM, with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley.

Georgia Mae Buchman, the daughter of Floyd and Ella (Sterler) Buchman was born on November 14, 1929 in Sibley, Iowa. She grew up in Sibley and graduated from the Sibley High School in 1951. Georgia lived in Sibley all her life and worked as a cook for several cafés throughout the years and was the custodian for the United Methodist Church in Sibley for 33 years. She was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church, where she served as a member of the UMW, Worship and Memorial Committees and the Ad Council. Georgia enjoyed crocheting, reading, working crossword and word find puzzles. She especially loved music and learned to play the piano and accordion as a young girl. Georgia and her siblings, Ruth and Earl were known as the “Buchman Trio” and loved to play their instruments together for “Good Ole Summertime Days”, during Sibley’s “Crazy Day” and at several churches in Sibley.

Georgia is survived by two siblings, Ruth and Earl Buchman of Sibley, IA; one uncle, Harold Buchman of Sibley; several cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, infant sister, Helen Frances Buchman; and aunts, uncles and cousins.

A Granville man was arrested for driving when he shouldn’t have been in Osceola County.

Alethia Schwarzkopf, age 92, of Sibley, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, November 23, 2010, at the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, November 27, 2010, at 1:30 P.M. at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Sibley. Father Thomas Topf officiating.

Visitation will be Friday, November 26, from 2:00 to 8:30 P.M. with the family present from 6:30 to 8:30 P.M. Catholic Daughters of America at 5:00 P.M. Scriptural Wake Service at 7:30 P.M. at the Andringa Funeral Home in Sibley.

Alethia Schwarzkopf was born on September 24, 1918, in Matlock, Iowa. She was the daughter of Lewis and Kate (Gasmound) Eichman. She lived her youth in Matlock, Iowa, until moving to Ashton, Iowa, in 1924. She attended the Ashton Public School.

She was united in marriage to Arthur Schwarzkopf of Ashton, Iowa, on October 23, 1937, in Inwood, Iowa. They lived in Inwood for a short time before moving to Sibley where Alethia was a homemaker and Arthur worked for AMPI for 40 years. Arthur passed away on September 24, 1983.

She was a member of St Andrews Catholic Church in Sibley.

Alethia enjoyed camping, fishing and traveling with Arthur. She also enjoyed baking. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

She passed away on Tuesday, November 23, 2010, at the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley.
Those left to cherish her memories are her children: Daryl and Shirley Schwarzkopf of Sibley, IA, Gary and Patricia Schwarzkopf of Cortez, CO, Rose Marie Draper of Amarillo, TX, Robert Joseph Schwarzkopf of Plano, TX; seven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Arthur; her parents; seven sisters and three brothers.
