AccidentGeneric 2Osceola County, Iowa — The driver of a tractor-trailer rig was hospitalized as the result of an accident that happened in Osceola County on Wednesday, July 27th.

According to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, about 12:40 pm Wednesday, a 1998 International semi pulling a load of grain, driven by 23-year old Justin Smith, of Iona, Minnesota, was eastbound on 100th Street.  Smith told deputies that an unknown problem with the truck’s steering caused the truck to pull hard to the right, which caused him to lose control of the vehicle.

Deputies say the truck entered the south ditch, and after the trailer shifted and slid into the ditch, the rig overturned, coming to rest on it’s left side.

Smith was transported to the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley, with what authorities are describing as “minor” injuries.

The tractor-trailer rig, owned by Smith Farms of Wilmont, Minnesota, sustained an estimated $60-thousand in damage.

Sibley, Iowa — If you need federal help or if you’d like to give your opinion on a federal matter, your opportunity is coming up in Sibley this week.

Bossman Headshot

Grassley Regional Director, Jacob Bossman

Iowa United States Senator Chuck Grassley’s regional director, Jacob Bossman, will be holding open office hours in Sibley on July 28th. The office hours provide an opportunity for Iowans to obtain casework assistance or to express views.

Bossman will be at the Sibley Public Library at 40 Ninth Street on Thursday, July 28, 2016, from 10 until 11 a.m. If you have questions you can call Grassley’s Sioux City office, or the library in Sibley at 712-754-2888.

Bossman will also be available in Lake Park from 11:30 to 12:30 that day.

Bossman says Grassley’s offices in Iowa regularly help constituents contact federal agencies to sort through problems with Social Security payments, military service matters, immigration cases and other issues. His state offices are located in Cedar Rapids, Council Bluffs, Davenport, Des Moines, Sioux City and Waterloo.

Senator Grassley says that open office hours are designed to help more Iowans access the assistance that is available from the office of their United States Senator. He says that he hopes anyone with federal agency-related casework will take advantage of Bossman’s visits.

Again, if you have any questions, you can contact Grassley’s Sioux City office at 712-233-1860.
