Two people from Worthington died in a 3-vehicle crash near Luverne on Tuesday.

The Minnesota State Patrol reports that about 6:40 AM, 24-year-old Rocio Dominguez of Worthington was westbound on I-90 westbound in the right lane, five miles east of Luverne in a 1998 Isuzu Rodeo.  Road conditions were icy at the time.  Fifty-one-year-old Larry Briles of Hastings, MN was eastbound on I-90 eastbound in a 2007 Peterbilt semi. Fifty-five-year-old John Eich of Des Moines was also eastbound on I-90 in a 2001 Volvo truck.
Dominguez lost control of his SUV, which skidded across the median and into the eastbound lanes, where it struck the trailer axles of Briles’ semi. The SUV was disabled in the roadway and the semi had overturned onto the right shoulder.  At that point, the Eich truck came along and struck Dominguez’ SUV again, sending it into the median. The Volvo truck then jackknifed into the trailer of the Peterbilt.
Dominguez and a passenger in his vehicle, 54-year-old Olga Diaz-Dominguez of Worthington were both killed in the accident and died at the scene.  Briles and Eich were both treated and released.
Dominguez’s Isuzu Rodeo was totaled.  Briles’s Peterbilt semi and Eich’s Volvo truck both received severe damage.
