Northwest Iowa — Ford Motor Company has announced a recall to replace faulty Takata airbag inflators.

According to Ford’s product recall website, Takata has determined that propellant degradation can rupture the airbag inflator. They say if the airbag is deployerd, a ruptured inflator can send shrapnel toward the vehicle occupants, resulting in injury or death.

Ford says it is vital that you determine if your Ford vehicle is affected by the recall, and if it is, have it repaired FREE by a Ford dealer.

According to Ford most of the vehicles at highest risk are in areas with high humidity and high temperatures.

The Ford vehicles being recalled for driver’s side inflators are:
2005 – 2014 Ford Mustang
2005-2006 Ford GT
2004-2006 Ford Range built in North America

Vehicles being recalled for passenger side inflators are:
2005 – 2011 Ford Mustang
2005 – 2006 Ford GT
2004 – 2011 Ford Range built in North America
2006 – 2011 Ford Fusion
2007 – 2010 Ford Edge
2006 Lincoln Zephy
2007 – 2011 Lincoln MKZ
2007 – 2010 Lincoln MKX
2006 – 2011 Mercury Milan
