Ashton, Iowa — A Sheldon woman was taken to a hospital after an accident on Monday, October 7, 2019, near Ashton.

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 9:25 a.m., 25-year-old Shea Brianne Driesen of Sheldon was driving a 2010 Chrysler Town and Country southbound on Highway 60 near 260th Street, about two and a half miles southwest of Ashton.

The report says Driesen claimed to have dropped her phone and was reaching for it when she struck the back of a gravity wagon being pulled by a 2015 Case Maxxum tractor being driven by 35-year-old Justin Alan Jacobs of Rushmore, MN. They tell us the Chrysler hit the left corner of the wagon then swerved left into the median.

Driesen was transported to the Osceola Regional Health Center by the Sibley Ambulance. Her injuries were described as “minor.” They tell us Jacobs was not injured.

According to the deputy’s report, Driesen’s Chrysler received about $6,000 in damage and Jacobs’ wagon received about $3,000 in damage.

It says Driesen was cited on a charge of Following Too Closely.

The Ashton Fire Department also assisted at the scene.
