Primghar, Iowa — Businesses and organizations are all responding in their own way to the COVID-19 issue. Community action agencies and food pantries are changing the way they operate too.

Upper Des Moines Opportunity — or UDMO — says that in response to the COVID-19 Pandemic, their top priority is to serve those in need while ensuring the safety of its employees.

Officials with UDMO say all their outreach offices will continue to operate under normal office hours at this time, but that may change so check back often.

To limit the number of individuals in their offices, they will take applications either online or through phone appointments. Their food pantries will be done via curbside pickup.

If you’re going to one of their offices for assistance and you have a current appointment, they ask you to call to verify and see what can be done via telephone. If you need food, heating, or other assistance and you are experiencing symptoms or have a family member experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, they are asking you to stay home and call your local UDMO office to make an individual plan for receiving services.
