Grace Hromatko, age 87, of Spirit Lake, Iowa, formerly of Sibley, Iowa, passed away on February 12, 2011, at the Lakes Regional Health Center in Spirit Lake, Iowa.

Memorial Service will be Friday, May 27, 2011, at 11:00 A.M. at the First Reformed Church in Sibley. Rev. Gary Van Heukelom officiating.

Graveside Service at 1:15 P.M. Friday, May 27, at Ocheyedan Township Cemetery in Ocheyedan.

Grace Hromatko, daughter of Henry and Anna (Buntjer) Huls, was born on May 31, 1923, in Rushmore, Minnesota and later moved to Allendorf, Iowa. She attended school in Sibley, Iowa.

She was united in marriage to Arlie Hromatko of Ocheyedan, Iowa, on April 9, 1940, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. They lived in Horton Township on the Hromatko farm until 1943, when they moved to their own farm south of Ocheyedan.

Grace was a very active member of Trinity Reformed Church in Sibley. She enjoyed singing with her husband, Arlie, and other small groups. She later transferred her membership to the First Reformed Church in Sibley.

Grace enjoyed playing her organ, cooking, gardening, fieldwork, and writing poetry; for which she won an award at the Poetry Convention in New York, New York. It was one of the greatest times in her life.

She passed away on Saturday, February 12, 2011, at the Lakes Regional Health Center in Spirit Lake, Iowa.

Those left to cherish her memories are her daughter and son-in-law: Leola and Mike Malone of Spirit Lake, IA; one daughter-in-law: Marlys Hromatko of Worthington, MN; 3 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 6 step-great grandchildren; 2 step-great-great-grandchildren.
 
She was preceded in death by her husband: Arlie; one son: Lovell Hromatko; one grandson: Larry Hromatko; 2 brothers and one sister.
