Four hundred jobs are coming to Sioux Falls — which could help job seekers in northwest Iowa.
The Sioux Falls Argus Leader reports that Capital One Financial Corporation is buying HSBC’s domestic credit card business.  HSBC has had a financial services center in Sioux Falls since 2000.  They’ve had their ups and downs too, employing their highest number of employees in about 2002, with a thousand.  Today they have 400 employed in Sioux Falls, but Capital One plans to add 400 jobs by next year according to South Dakota’s Governor and congressional delegation.
Many northwest Iowans, especially Lyon County residents work for banking and credit card operations in Sioux Falls, where the state’s tax laws favor big banking.
