A Sibley man has been charged with OWI and Failure To Maintain Control after an accident on Saturday west of Sibley.

At approximately 3:00 AM Saturday morning, Joseph Lee Klaassen, age 21 of Sibley was arrested by an Osceola County Deputy for allegedly Operating While Intoxicated 1st Offense (Serious Misdemeanor) and Failure to Maintain Control (Simple Misdemeanor). Klaassen is currently being held in the Osceola County Jail with a $1,300 cash bond. The arrest stemmed from a report of a traffic accident west of Sibley. Klaassen reportedly swerved for a deer in the roadway causing him to lose control and enter the west ditch. Klaassen’s vehicle rolled at least once and ended up in the field on its wheels. Klaassen was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer, which sustained approximately $6,000 damage. No injuries were reported.
