District baseball assignments have been announced. The actual brackets will be released a little later this summer but we can tell you where teams will be and who will be the host sites.
In Class 2A the District 1 field includes Boyden Hull Rock Valley, Cherokee, Sheldon, Unity, Western and Sioux Center who will host the District. Okoboji from the Siouxland Conference will be in District 2. The District 1 winner will play the winner of District 2 in a substate game at Spencer.
Teams were a little more scattered in Class 1A. Most area teams will be in District 2. the list includes Central Lyon, George Little Rock, Marcus Meriden Cleghorn, Remsen Union, Spalding, Remsen St Mary’s, Trinity Christian, West Lyon and West Sioux. District hosts will be Remsen St Mary’s and West Lyon with the District final hosted by Remsen St Mary’s. St Mary’s will host the substate game as well with the District 2 winner facing the District 1 winner.
Other area 1A teams are in District 3. Sibley Ocheyedan, Harris Lake Park, South O’Brien and Hartley Melvin Sanborn will join Clay Central Everly, Graettinger Terril, Laurens Marathon, Newell Fonda and Storm Lake St Mary’s. District hosts include HMS and Storm Lake St Mary’s. The District final will be at Storm Lake High School. The District 3 winner meets the District 4 winner at Algona Garrigan.
