The Iowa State Patrol reports that about 8:30 PM, 28-year-old Christopher Kadlec of McGrath, Minnesota was in Sibley, but was confused and took the southbound offramp, northbound onto southbound Highway 60. He failed to negotiate a curve and the vehicle entered the ditch, rolling over.
A passenger in the vehicle, 29-year-old Nicholas Carlson of Sturgeon Lake, Minnesota, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
Kadlec and three other passengers, 54-year-old Mark Brune and 24-year-old Chay Brune, both of Hinkley, Minnesota; and 23-year-old Donald Nelson of Stanchfield, Minnesota; were transported to Osceola Community Hospital by ambulance.
The trooper’s report goes on to say that the driver and three passengers who were not wearing seatbelts were completely or partially ejected from the vehicle.
The preliminary report did not list a damage estimate for the vehicle.
The Iowa State Patrol was assisted by the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.
