AmbulanceSibley, Iowa — A Le Mars man and his passenger were taken to the hospital after an accident near Sibley on Wednesday (1/9).

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office reports that just after 11:30 PM, 60-year-old Patrick DeRocher of Le Mars was driving a 1999 Ford F350 pickup eastbound on Highway 9, about a half mile west of Oakhill Avenue, northwest of Sibley, when he fell asleep. The vehicle crossed the centerline, entered the north ditch, ramped an embankment and went airborne until it crashed into the east creek embankment. The vehicle traveled in the ditch for about 100 yards and was airborne for about 25 yards before hitting the creek embankment.

Both DeRocher and his passenger were transported to the Osceola Community Hospital by the Osceola County Ambulance Service.

There was $6000 damage to the pickup.
